Frequently Asked Questions
All financial planners are not alike, and it's important to work with someone who specializes in your situation. Off the Clock is best suited for:
- Newer and first-time investors looking to build a strong financial foundation
- Busy professionals with equity compensation
- New and growing families navigating college planning, career growth, and inheritance while balancing family time and life goals
- Pre-retirees wondering how to plan for what's next
We are not a good fit for those looking for a hands-off approach. We value partnership and collaboration in our financial planning process.
We are also not a good fit for investors looking to time the market, outperform the market, or invest in individual stocks. We focus on passive, long-term investing to reach your goals.
No — we don't have any minimums to start working with us!
We start with a free 30-minute intro call to make sure we're a good fit. From there, we spend 2–3 months collaborating — gathering information, building your plan, and putting it into action. After that, we move into an ongoing partnership: regular check-ins, unlimited access to me throughout the year, and support as your life evolves.
Off the Clock is a life-centered, holistic, flat fee-only financial planning firm. Your life goals and values are at the forefront of our planning process. Many firms focus solely on investments, and while that's one component of your financial plan, our firm doesn't center around investment management.
Yes, I am fee-only meaning I am paid directly by you — no commissions, product sales, or referral fees from third parties. Every recommendation I make is based on what's best for you, not what earns me the most.
A flat fee-only planner charges a set annual fee rather than a percentage of your assets. With the traditional percentage of assets under management (AUM), your advisor's fee grows as your portfolio grows. You'll always know what you're paying.
I offer three types of annual ongoing planning engagements.
Clocking In (Wealth Builders) start at $3,000/year
Peak Earnings (Mid-Career Professionals) start at $5,000/year
Clocking Out (Pre-Retirees) start at $5,000/year

Yes — investment management is included with all plans, but it's never required. If you prefer to self-manage your investments, that's completely fine. You'll still receive the full financial planning experience.
No, I don't prepare tax returns. However, tax planning is a core part of what I do. I'll work alongside your CPA or tax preparer to help minimize your lifetime tax liability and make sure your overall financial plan is as tax-efficient as possible.
Yes, always. I am legally and ethically required to act in your best interest at all times.
Investment management is not required but highly recommended. If you decide to manage your own investments, I will provide recommendations and guidance but will not have oversight into your account to ensure it's been done correctly. Clients often find relief in having a professional handle the investment management.
We understand that by investing with us, you are trusting us with your life savings, and it's something we don't take lightly.
We believe in low cost, long term, diversified, methodical portfolio management. Before investing, each client will complete a Risk Assessment so you feel comfortable with what you're investing in.
As the market moves, so do your asset allocations, which is why we rebalance portfolios, at a minimum, annually.
We manage investments through third party custodians — Charles Schwab or Altruist. Both are reputable custodians that ensure the safety of your assets, security, and transparent client interface.
I am located in Tampa, Florida but serve clients nationwide. All meetings are held online allowing flexibility in who I serve.
Off the Clock is a 100% virtual financial planning firm. However, I love meeting local clients for coffee meetups!
Completely normal — and honestly, expected. Most people come to me feeling some mix of overwhelm, uncertainty, or even embarrassment about where their finances stand. There's no judgment here. Our first conversation is just that — a conversation. We talk about where you are, where you want to go, and whether working together makes sense.
